This institution founded in 2006 was the realization of the dream of its management viz. Pushpagiri Medical Society to provide quality Dental education to aspiring students of Kerala. The institution is recognized by the Dental Council of India and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The college is currently affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) Thrissur. The NAAC has accredited the institution with B Grade following the inspection conducted in 2016. During the last 2 consecutive years the institution secured the highest score among the dental colleges in the state of Kerala in the survey conducted by the ‘The Week’ magazine.

The institution has an annual intake of 50 students in BDS course, 14 students in MDS courses in 6 specialities and 10 students in DORA course. Ever since its establishment, the institution has an excellent track record in academics and extra curricular activities. The college has consistently shown results par excellence in all examinations conducted by Kerala University of Health Sciences. The institution had secured the first position among all 24 dental colleges affiliated to the Kerala University of Health Sciences in the First BDS examination in 2011 and has secured I Rank for BDS and MDS courses during these years. Four of our faculties are recognized PhD guides by KUHS with two PhD scholars currently registered. The institution is free of campus politics and has a good track record of being a zero-strike campus.

Pushpagiri College of Dental Sciences (PCDS) inculcates social commitment in its students and simultaneously contributes to the local community through Outreach programmes. Dental Health education programmes are broadcasted through Radio Macfast 90.4 FM station Tiruvalla, a unique program not existing in any other dental colleges in India. In addition, Dental health check up camps, ‘SEAL IT project’ (for prevention of caries among school children), oral cancer screening and awareness programmes and anti-tobacco campaigns are conducted regularly in three nearby districts, namely Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam. The ‘SEAL IT project’ and oral cancer detection programmes are funded by external agencies. The college has a well-equipped mobile dental unit to facilitate the above out reach programmes.

Great thrust is given for research among the faculty, interns and students and publish research  papers. They are encouraged to do research in the Pushpagiri Research Center (PRC) situated in the main campus. PRC features open-plan, multifunctional research laboratories. The centre focus on advanced quantitative approaches to specific biotechnology challenges at the interface of medicine, dentistry and biology.

This college ensures quality in student-centric teaching and learning. Students are cared for at a personal level and this has paved the way for a warm relationship between students and teachers. Academic and personal support/ mentoring are given to the students in the campus. The College has excellent facilities like clinics with most modern dental equipments (like CBCT scan, T-scan, Councious sedation unit) and library with books and journals including E journals, hostels for male and female students, playground and facilities for indoor games. The campus offers the learning community with a wide range of co-curricular and extracurricular activities to choose from. There are student association activities, sport fests, tournaments, festivals and celebrations, campaigns and many other common initiatives and schemes for the students, thereby making it a student friendly institution. The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit in the college offers ample opportunities for inculcating social commitment and the role of students in building the society.

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)  of the institution monitors and improve the quality of all aspects of the institution including academics, teaching and learning, patient care, research and student activities thereby playing a major role in curricular implementation and feedback.
