The discipline of Oral Medicine focuses on the diagnosis, prevention, and management of Potentially malignant disorders, oral mucosal diseases, orofacial pain, salivary gland disorders, temporomandibular joint disorders, and oral manifestations of systemic diseases.
Our department hosts a dedicated Orofacial Pain Clinic, specializing in the assessment and management of complex facial pain conditions, temporomandibular disorders, neuropathic pain, and musculoskeletal pain, following a patient-centred and multidisciplinary approach guided by evidence-based clinical protocols.
The specialty of Oral Radiology is devoted to diagnostic oral and maxillofacial imaging. The department is well equipped with conventional radiographic facilities and state-of-the-art advanced imaging modalities, including Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), enabling precise three-dimensional imaging for accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up. These facilities significantly contribute to efficient patient care, academic excellence, and research productivity.
A fully digital radiographic system facilitates seamless access to radiographic images across all departments of the dental college, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and quality assurance.
Our academic and clinical training emphasizes evidence-based medicine, integrating current scientific literature, clinical expertise, and patient values into decision-making. Students are trained extensively in clinical examination, radiographic techniques, image interpretation, and patient counselling, with strict adherence to radiation safety protocols.
The department actively promotes research and scholarly publications, encouraging faculty and students to undertake original research, present scientific papers, and posters at state and national conferences, and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
